The
Silent Auction -- Saturday and Sunday!
See what's available for bid at the Silent Auction in the
EORenew booth! We are very grateful to the many donors for this
benefit auction. Purchases support the nonprofit organization that
brings you SolWest Fair and other educational activities throughout
the year.
Check out the items on display, write your bid on the sheet
next to the item, and then attend the bid closing at 6:30 Saturday
(selected items only) or 2:00 Sunday, to see if you have won your
bid. You or your representative must be present to win. All items
must be removed from the fairgrounds by 4:00 Sunday afternoon. At

The
SolWest Free Speech Corner
The corner just outside the north door of the Pavilion, in the
shade of a big green tree, is the SolWest Free Speech Corner.
Speakers and would-be speakers are invited to sign up for a time slot
on the schedule posted at the Corner, and speak on a topic near and
dear to their hearts. If its not a scheduled workhop, if
its political, or if you just want to express an opinion, this
is a protected corner where you can speak your mind. Listeners may
hear something controversial, enlightening, or just plain fun in the
Free Speech Corner. Check out the Free Speech schedule, see who has
signed up, and stop by to hear something that may influence your life!
Note: Opinions expressed in the Free Speech
Corner belong to their presenters, and do not reflect the opinions of EORenew.
Camping
at SolWest
Camping is available right on the fairgrounds for both tents
and RVs! If you don't need a hookup, camp in "the Orchard."
The camping is in a grassy field, with water, showers, and toilets
available nearby. There will also be porta-potties for convenience at
night. The fee is $15 for the weekend, payable to EORenew
(reservations strongly recommended at 541-575-3633). Check in when
you arrive with our campground host, Mike Igo.
If you would like to camp in the RV park with full hookups,
call John Day/Canyon City Parks and Rec. at 541-575-0110. RV slots go
fast, so call early! The RV park is the closest place to all the
action. Unplugged RVs, and anyone else, are welcome to camp free
around the edges of our 30 acre parking field, 1 block east of the
fairgrounds on Third Street. There will be porta-potties here, too,
for the travel-weary as well as the not completely self-contained. No
reservations are necessary, but please park around the back edges
near the trees.
Volunteers
needed
It takes many helping hands to run SolWest: greeters selling
tickets at the gate, electrathon lap-counters and flaggers, question-answerers
and go-fers. You can help keep SolWest running smoothly and
fairgoers finding the information they came for by volunteering for
2-hour shifts during SolWest. Reap the rewards of free fair entry and
free camping. Training provided. For more information email us in
advance at info@solwest.org, call the EORenew office at 541-575-3633,
or inquire at the main entry gate, and -- thank you!
Please contact the EORenew
office if you would like
to distribute posters or
brochures in your area.
About
Dogs and other pets...
Please leave your dog at home. It's not kind to your pet to
bring it to a crowded event, and while your pooch is probably
perfectly behaved, the next one may not see it the same way.
Dogfights are unpleasant for everybody. We understand that some
people travel with their pets, so we ask that if you do bring your
pet, you must have it on a leash while at SolWest, and you may not
take it into classrooms with you.

EARTH
ANGEL MASSAGE
LMT8308
While enjoying SolWest Fair, recharge your mind, body, and
soul with massage. Licensed massage therapist Dawn Hamsher will be
offering massage in the Pavilion during the fair. We will be offering
several types of massage, including Swedish, reflexology, and chair massage.
We cant wait to see you! Stop in early to schedule an appointment.
Her-oes
and He-roes Organize SolWest Recycling
The Her-oes and He-roes Club is setting up the SolWest
recycling center for the second year in a row. Recycling can be found
outside the northeast corner of The Pavilion. Proceeds from
returnable beverage containers dropped at the recycling center go to
support the mentoring programs of the club. The Her-oes and He-roes
will also be selling brownies and lemonade at a table on the north
side of the Pavilion during SolWest to support their activites. The
Her-oes and He-roes Club is a program of Families First of Grant County.
SolWest
Video PSA
Many volunteers have contributed to a 30-second Public Service
Announcement video for SolWest Fair. Thanks to boB Gudgel of Midnite
Solar and Magnum Energy for the raw footage from SolWest. Thanks also
to Kelly Workman of Radio KJDY in John Day for reading the audio
script into digital form. And, thanks to Heidi
Muller for permission to use her song Winter Goodby,
from her Cassiopeia CD. Thanks especially to high school senior
Kevin Brown of Canyon City for talented video editing to produce the
final product. You have a great career in computers coming, Kevin!
The SolWest PSA is posted to YouTube!
Just Google videos for SolWest. If anyone would like a
high-resolution copy of the PSA sent to their local TV station,
please send contact info for the stations Creative Services
department to info@solwest.org, or ask us for download information.
